== 개요 ==

1956년에 지정된 [[미국 육군]]의 공식 [[군가]]. 줄여서 The Army Song이라고도 부른다.
== 유래 ==
[[1908년]] 3월 [[필리핀]]에 주둔해 있던 제 5 포병연대 연대가로 에드먼드 루이스 그루버[* 이 사람의 조상들 중에 [[고요한 밤 거룩한 밤]]을 쓴 프란츠 그뤼버가 있다.], 윌리엄 브라이든, 로버트 댄포드가 Cassion Song을 작곡했다. 이 곡이 포병들 사이에서 인기를 끌자 포병대의 의뢰로 [[1917년]]에 존 필립 수자는 이 곡을 편곡해 U.S. Field Artillery라는 곡을 만들었다.
== 육군의 채택 ==
[[1948년]] 해군, 공군, 해병대 모두 가지고 있는 공식 군가가 없던 미국 육군은 공식 군가를 정하려고 했지만 적당한 곡이 없었고, [[1952년]]의 육군 공식 군가 공모에서 채택된 곡이 표절논란에 휩싸이자 결국 [[1953년]]에 Cassion Song을 그냥 고쳐서 쓰기로 결정했다. 그 결과 군악 장교 해롤드 월튼 알버그의 가사를 덧붙여 [[1956년]] 11월 11일 재향 군인의 날에 이 곡을 육군가로 채택했다.

== 여담 ==
[[로버트 하인라인]]의 단편 소설, '도로는 움직여야 한다'에서 이 곡에 기반한 노래가 등장한다.[* 소설 제목부터가 The Roads Must Roll]

[[카투사]]들은 기초 교육과정에 이 노래의 교육이 포함되어 있다. 따라서 한국군 군가 말고도 이 노래를 추가로 배우게 되며, [[주한미군]]들과 이 노래를 부르게 된다.

[[걸스 운트 판처]]에서는 [[선더스 대학 부속 고교]]와의 일전에서 BGM으로 사용됐다.

몇몇 부대에서는 자신의 이 군가를 베이스로, 자신의 보직에 맞게 개사하기도 한다. 가령 포병의 경우 The Army song이 아닌 The artillery song이라는 변형버전이 존재한다.
