1 개요

영국 출신의 애시드 재즈 밴드. 장 폴 마우닉(Jean-Paul 'Bluey' Maunick)을 주축으로 1979년 결성됐고 여러 객원멤버들이 거쳐갔다. 원래는 마우닉이 앨범마다 멤버를 꾸려나가는 프로젝트성 밴드였으나 최근에는 고정멤버를 두고 활동하고 있다.

2 음악적 특징

자미로콰이가 디스코와 락에, 브랜 뉴 헤비스가 펑크(Funk)에 가까운 스타일이라면 인코그니토는 펑크에 R&B가 결합된 느낌이 강하다. 최근들어 느린 템포의 발라드곡은 대부분 R&B 특유의 기교가 많이 섞인 창법으로 소화하고 있다.

2011년 4월 첫 단독 내한공연을 펼쳤고, 이듬해인 2012년에는 불과 1년만에 다시 내한해 국내 애시드 재즈팬들을 즐겁게 해줬다. 국내에서 애시드 재즈가 비주류 장르임을 감안하면 상당히 이례적이다.

2013년에 장 폴 마우닉이 솔로앨범을 발표했다. 인코그니토에서는 듣기 힘든 그의 목소리를 들을 수 있다.
