2 등장인물

2.1 Meteo

《L》의 최고 희생양.

13~15살의 금발의 남자 아이. 어린 여신인 Leiv가 후술할 《L》 의 악역 Viz를 잡기 위해 내린 유성우로 인해 사랑하던 사람과 터전을 모두 잃게 되고, 후에 Viz에게 영혼을 점령당해 천상계를 파괴하게 된다. 이후 Meteor에 의해 정신을 되찾은 Meteo는 자신에게 남은 Viz의 힘으로 천상계와 지상계를 원래 모습으로 돌려놓고, 자살하게 된다.

2.2 Meteor

푸른 머리를 가진 남자아이 형상을 한 신. Viz가 영혼을 지배하려 했으나 실패한 대단한 의지력의 소유자이다. Viz에게 영혼을 지배당한 Meteo를 보호하고, 이후 Viz를 제거하기 위해 자신을 희생하게 된다.

2.3 Viz

《L》의 악역.

Viz는 어떤 사람이 아닌, 신들조차 통제 불가능한 힘을 말한다. 전설에 따르면 천상계를 창조했다고. 챕터 L 세계관의 창조주나 전지전능한 존재와 같은 듯 하다. 만일 어떤 영혼이 Viz를 건드린다면, Viz는 그 영혼을 "숙주"로 삼아 마음대로 다룰 수 있다. 그러나 그 영혼이 매우 순수하다면 Viz는 자신의 힘을 쓸 수 없다. 이후 Meteo의 영혼을 지배하는데 성공하게 되며 Meteo를 이용해 천상계를 파괴하게 되다가 Meteor의 희생으로 Meteor와 함께 사라지게 된다.

Cytus 게임 내 일러스트에서는 긴 갈색머리를 가진 20대 중반의 남성으로 등장하며, 원작자인 Ice 말에 따르면 본인의 오너캐라고 한다. 그래서 Meteo를 그렇게 굴린건가

여담으로, Chapter L 일러스트에 대한 추측이 난무하면서 2차창작 및 동인계 한정으로 핫게이쇼타콘이라는 별명이 생겨버렸다(...) 이유는 위에 나와 있는 L2의 일러스트가 위험한 축에 속하며, 이후 Meteo에게도 상의(시스루)+ 짧은 반바지(이것도 시스루다!!! Meteo를 소개할 때 나왔던 L4의 일러스트를 보자.)를 입힌 걸 보면.... L4 & L5의 일러스트에서 입에 물고있는 하얀 실이 치실이라고 놀림받기도 했다

2.4 Leiv

《L》의 조연이자 만악의 근원

젊은 여신으로 등장한다. 지상계로 탈출한 Viz를 잡기 위해 유성우를 내리지만 실패하고 만다. 그리고 그녀가 한 행동은 Viz가 Meteo를 더 쉽게 세뇌시킬 수 있도록 한 원동력이 되었다. 이것이 만악의 근원이라 불리는 이유. 이후 Viz에게 영혼을 지배당한 Meteo에 의해 심각한 상처를 입게 된다. 자업자득

3 스토리

3.1 Intro 스토리

The gods in heaven each wielded different strengths and powers. They created the human world based on their own outlooks, and the regulations of heaven were used as a basis for the regulations in the mortal world. This observed the gods’ love for their artificial utopia. The people living in the mortal world naturally and indifferently followed those laws, never knowing that they were living like birds being raised in a cage.

천상계의 신들은 각기 다른 힘과 능력을 지니고 있었습니다. 그들은 그들의 사상에 근거하여 인간 세계를 창조했고, 천상계의 규범은 인간계의 규범의 밑바탕이 되었습니다. 이것은 그들의 인공적인 이상세계에 대한 사랑으로 여겨졌죠. 인간계에 살아가던 사람들은 자신들이 새장의 새처럼 길러지고 있다는 사실을 인지하지 못한채, 자연스럽게 그리고 당연하게 이 규범을 준수하며 살아갔습니다.

In heaven, since the beginning, the gods have been monitoring an uncontrollable force- legend has it that heaven itself was born from this powerful force. Many ambitious people who desired for such power volunteered to try and control it, but all to no avail, and they ended up becoming heaven’s few “disasters”. This force, as referred to by the gods, was named Viz. If and when a soul touches Viz, he will inhibit the soul as if it was the “host”; and when that “host” does not have enough willpower to control Viz, devastating and fatal injuries will occur. Over the years, the heavenly residents slowly feared Viz’s power more and more, yet there are still some people who have their minds set on him.

천상계에서는 태초부터 신들이 예의주시하던 통제 불가능한 힘이 있었습니다. 천상계는 이 힘에 의해 자체적으로 생겨났다는 전설도 있었죠. 이 힘을 손에 넣어 조종하려던 수많은 야망에 찬 사람들이 도전하였으나, 모든 노력은 수포로 돌아갔고, 모두 천상계의 얼마 없었던 "재앙"으로 끝나고 말았습니다. 이 힘은 신들에 의해 Viz라는 이름이 지어지게 되었습니다. 만일 어떤 영혼이 Viz를 건드린다면, Viz는 그 영혼을 "숙주"로 삼아 마음대로 다루었고, 그리고 그 "숙주"가 Viz를 다룰만한 의지력이 부족하다면, "숙주"는 치명적인 내상을 입었습니다. 시간이 갈수록 천상계의 거주자들은 차츰 Viz의 힘을 두려워하게 되었지만, 늘 Viz를 갈망하는 사람들은 존재했습니다.

In the year DF409, when the heavenly warriors teamed up in an attempt to eliminate Viz, he managed to defeat the warriors and hide in the soul of a blue-haired boy called Meteor. However, Meteor possessed great willpower, and therefore avoided any fatal injuries. Yet, Meteor questioned his own ability to control Viz. Even though he gained an enormous amount of power inside him, if ever Meteor failed to control Viz, his willpower would be sealed and be rendered unusable to contain Viz, resulting in undesirable outcomes. Like the sea that can move a boat, it can also capsize the boat (metaphor).

Since then, Viz occasionally tried to take advantage of Meteor, attempting to make Meteor lose his control over him. However, the more Viz failed, the stronger Meteor’s willpower grew. Having failed so many times, Viz had no other choice but to wait for an opportunity to seize. Finally, one day, Meteor’s control dwindled; and Viz, like a whale swallowing its prey, took up a small part of Meteor’s willpower. Although it was not enough willpower for Viz to take over Meteor’s soul, it was enough for him to summon a meteor shower out of nowhere. Like that, Viz the powerful force finally parted from Meteor and entered the human realm. Upon parting, Viz tore out a bit of Meteor’s soul with him, and Meteor had a fragment of Viz left inside him.

그 때 이후로, Viz는 가끔씩 Meteor를 자신의 힘에 압도되게 하여, 주도권을 장악하려 했습니다. 하지만, Viz가 실패할 때마다 Meteor의 의지력은 더욱 강해졌죠. 수없이 실패하고 난 뒤에야 Viz는 기회가 오기를 기다리는 것 말고는 방법이 없다는 것을 알게 되었습니다. 드디어, 어느날, Meteor의 자제력이 수그러들게 되었고, Viz는 먹잇감을 삼키는 고래처럼 Meteor의 의지력의 일부를 삼켰습니다. 물론 Viz가 Meteor의 영혼까지 빼앗기에는 많이 부족했지만, 그가 즉각적으로 유성우를 내리기에는 충분한 양이었습니다. 그렇게 Viz는 드디어 Meteor에게서 빠져나와 인간 세상에 발을 들이게 되었습니다. 그 때, Viz는 약간의 Meteor의 영혼과 함께 빠져나왔고, Meteor 역시 Viz의 일부분을 간직한 채로 살아가게 되었죠.

Upon entering the human world, Viz brought with him the fragment of Meteor’s soul, and proceeded to inhibit the body of a human boy. This blonde-haired boy’s name was Meteo. However, even though Viz still had the small bit of soul, Meteo’s mind was pure, carefree and empty, which made Viz unable to exert any power on his own. Furthermore, since the laws and workings of the human world differ from those of heaven, Viz became weaker the longer he stayed on Earth.

인간 세상에 발을 들인 이후 Viz는 Meteor의 영혼 조각을 가져와, 인간 남자아이의 몸을 잠식하기 위해 나아갔습니다. 이 금발의 소년의 이름은 Meteo였죠. 하지만, Viz가 아무리 영혼의 일부를 지니고 있다고 해도 Meteo의 마음은 너무나 순진무구하고, 티없이 맑았습니다. 결론적으로 Viz는 자신의 힘을 전혀 발휘할 수 없었죠. 나아가, 인간계의 법률과 돌아가는 상황은 천상계의 것들과는 달랐기 때문에 Viz는 지구에 오래 머무를수록 더 약해져 갔죠.

Although the blue-haired boy above could see and know the young boy’s whereabouts (via his soul fragment), because Meteo was a mortal, Meteor could do nothing but hope that Viz’s power remained sealed in the human world. That way, everything would remain at peace.

푸른 머리칼의 소년은 그의 일부 영혼 조각을 통해 어린 소년의 위치를 보고 파악할 수 있었지만, Meteo는 언젠가 죽을 운명이었기 때문에 Meteor는 단지 Viz의 힘이 인간계에서 계속해서 봉인되기를 바라는 수밖에 없었습니다. 그렇다면, 모든 것은 평화롭게 돌아가겠죠.

The news of Viz successfully escaping eventually reached the gods. Leiv, the young goddess, used her power to open up a route between the two worlds. Upon doing so, she created a meteor shower of her own, and as she and her heavenly warriors descended to Earth, she tried to figure out a way to get the strength to return to heaven.

Viz가 성공적으로 탈출했다는 소식은 신들의 귀에 들어가게 되었습니다. 젊은 여신인 Leiv는 그녀의 힘을 사용해 천상계와 인간계를 잇는 길을 열었습니다. 그런 뒤, 그녀는 유성우를 만들어내었고, 그렇게 그녀와 천상계의 전사들은 지구로 내려와 Viz를 다시 천상계로 가져가는 방법을 찾기 위해 노력했습니다.

Meanwhile in the human world, the thirteen-to-fifteen year old Meteo was just on the way heading back to Centriata city where his home is, getting ready to share with his parents the results of his hunt for food. Suddenly, the whole sky flashed white, and black holes appeared overhead, followed by countless meteors raining from above, mercilessly landing hard against the entire Centriata city. Explosions from the meteor shower could be heard from every corner of the Earth. Meteo stood outside of the city, helplessly watching the meteors crush every building and person in the land he called home. His loved ones and his homeland, the two pillars of support that he held so dear to his heart, vanished in an instant… and along with them, Meteo’s heart crumbled.

그러는 동안 인간계에서는 13~15살[*1 ]의 Meteo가 그가 사냥한 것들을 부모님과 나누기 위해 그의 집이 있는 Centriata 도시로 가던 중이었습니다. 순식간에 하늘은 섬광으로 가득 찼다가, 머리 위로 블랙홀들이 나타났습니다. 뒤이어 셀 수 없이 많은 유성들이 떨어졌고, 무자비하게도 Centriata 도시 전역에 강하게 내리 꽃혔죠. 유성우의 충격과 폭발력은 실로 엄청나서 지구 전역에서 그 진동을 느낄 수 있었습니다. Meteo는 도시 외곽에서 무력하게 유성들이 모든 건물들과 그가 집이라고 했던 땅에 살던 사람들을 파괴하는 것을 지켜볼 수밖에 없었습니다. 그가 사랑하던 이들과 터전, 그렇게 그를 지지했던 두 기둥이 순식간에 완전히 무너져 내리자, 뒤따라 그의 심장마저도 산산조각 나고 말았습니다.

The era of when the gods chased after Viz’s immense power- due to the legend of Viz creating heaven- was known as the “Majestic Phoenix”.

신들이 Viz의 강력한 힘들을 뒤쫓던 시기에, Viz의 천상계 창조의 전설은 "Majestic Phoenix"라고 불렸습니다.

The meteor shower that Viz created upon descending to the human world is “Precipitation”. [I think this meteor shower did no major damage to anything.]

The opening that Leiv created between the mortal world and heaven is “Entrance”. The artificial meteor shower that Leiv created afterwards is “Precipitation at the Entrance”.

Leiv가 만들어낸 천상계와 인간계의 통로는 "Entrance"이었습니다. 또한, Leiv가 뒤이어 만들어낸 유성우는 "Precipitation at the Entrance"였습니다.

3.2 Song 스토리

3.2.1 L1- The Devastated Lower (파괴된 지상계)

Loneliness (고독)

Viz, when hiding inside Meteor’s soul, finally broke free, and kept a means of contact with him. The force that waited for so long (Viz) appeared in the shape of a phoenix in front of Meteo’s eyes. [Though, I think The Devastated Lower means the destruction of Centriata City due to Leiv’s meteor shower]

여태껏 Meteor의 영혼에 숨어있던 Viz는 마침내 자유를 찾게 되었고, 계속해서 그와 접촉을 가졌습니다. 오랫동안 때를 기다려온 Viz는 마침내 Meteo의 눈 앞에 불사조의 형태로 현물화되었죠. [이 내용이 본 이야기이긴 하지만, "파괴된 지상계(The Devastated Lower)"는 Leiv의 유성우로 인한 Centriata 도시의 파괴를 의미하는 것 같습니다. ]

3.2.2 L2- Ascension to the upper (천상계로의 상승)

Liberation (해방)

(After Leiv’s meteor shower) After some personal conflict, Meteo lastly decided to let Viz control his soul, and with that decision follows the power to search for his parents in heaven. (That means Viz gave him the power to go to heaven to look for his parents, as long as Viz inhibits his soul.)

3.2.3 L3- Roar, on the Deserted Lands (메마른 대지의 포효)

Leverage (분열)

The survivors of the “Precipitation at the Entrance” split into two major factions. The first faction believed that the disaster was all planned by heaven’s gods. On the other hand, the second faction believed that anything in the human world had a scientific explanation to it, and they proposed a theory that there exists a more balanced world, a utopia. The two factions rejected each other, argued against each other, and started killing each other. This phenomenon drew the human world closer and closer to a second disaster.

"Precipitation at the Entrance"에서 살아남은 이들은 두 파벌로 갈라졌습니다. 하나는 '이 모든 파괴가 천상계의 신들에 의해 계획되어진 것이다'라는 주장을 내세웠고, 다른 파벌은 '모든 인간계의 사건은 과학적으로 설명이 가능하다'라는 주장을 내세우며 더 균형잡힌 세계인 유토피아의 존재를 주장했습니다. 두 파벌은 서로를 부정하면서, 끊임없는 논쟁을 펼쳤고, 급기야 서로를 죽이기까지 이르렀죠. 이러한 현상은 점차 지상계에 두 번째 재앙의 기운을 드리웠습니다.

3.2.4 L4- The Unrevealed (숨겨진 진실) & L5- The Revealed (밝혀진 진실)

Latent (잠재된) / Lapse (시간의 경과)

After Meteo got the power to leave the human world, he entered heaven, a world that was entirely different from Earth. There, he could neither find any souls of the dead, nor any familiar creatures… and neither could he find his parents. The only thing Meteo could spot was a blue-haired boy, watching from a distance. Meteor, who had been waiting longingly in heaven, sensed Viz’s presence via his soul fragment (that Viz entrained). Ever since the news that Viz descended to the human world spread around heaven, Meteor had felt very regretful to know that Meteo got involved in this matter. Since then, Meteor had been quietly protecting Meteo. Now that Meteor understood the power that controlled Meteo, he hoped that, as told in heaven’s history, he would try to use Meteo’s willpower to control Viz. However, since Meteo lost his family and home, he no longer had any willpower. Viz became the only thing that Meteo could rely on to live. Knowing these facts, Viz proceeded to inhibit Meteo’s soul, leaving him with little to nothing.

Meteo는 인간계를 떠날 힘을 갖게 되어 천상계로 진입했을 때 지구와는 완전히 다른 천상계의 모습을 보았습니다. 그곳에는 죽은 영혼이나 지구에서 보던 그 어떠한 생명체와도 비슷한 것들이 없었습니다. 심지어는 그의 부모님들조차도요. Meteo가 발견한 것은 오직 멀찍이 떨어져 그를 지켜보던 푸른 머리카락의 소년이었습니다. 천상계에서 오랫동안 기다렸던 Meteor는 Viz가 가져갔던 그의 영혼 조각을 통해 Viz의 존재를 눈치챌 수 있었습니다. Viz가 인간계로 내려가 저지른 짓들이 천상계에 전해지자, Meteor는 Meteo가 이 일에 말려들게 되었다는 점에서 후회하고 있었습니다. 그 이후로 Meteor는 조용히 Meteo를 보호하고 있었죠. Meteor가 Meteo를 조종하던 힘의 존재를 이해하자, 그는 천상계의 역사에 기록된 것처럼 Meteo의 의지력을 이용해 Viz를 조종하기를 바랐습니다. 그러나, Meteo는 이미 가족, 삶의 터전 등 그가 가진 모든 것을 잃었기 때문에 그에게 더 이상 의지라는 것을 찾아볼 수 없었습니다. 3.2.5 L6- Viz Awakened (Viz 각성하다)

Lunatic (광기)

Viz, having obtained Meteo’s soul, knew that nobody could control him anymore. With Meteo’s body, Viz went on a reckless rampage in heaven. At that moment, the skies turned to dusk and the ground darkened. Heaven’s sky, which had only ever been sunny, turned to a dull, dark red hue. The entire world above felt as if there was a massive amount of pressure suffocating them. At this point of time, Meteor realized that handing his soul over to Viz in the first place had been a grave mistake. He felt betrayed by Viz, but it was too late to stop him.

Meteo의 영혼을 손에 넣은 Viz는 더 이상 아무것도 그를 막을 수 없다는 것을 깨달았습니다. 그래서 그는 Meteo의 몸으로 Viz는 천상계에서 폭주했죠. 그 순간, 하늘은 갑자기 땅거미가 지기 시작했고, 땅은 어둠에 휩싸였습니다. 항상 태양빛만을 비추던 천상계의 하늘은 검붉은 빛으로 물들고 말았습니다. 모든 세계는 마치 어마어마한 압력이 그들을 질식시키는 듯한 기분을 느꼈죠. 이 때, Meteor는 처음 Viz에게 약간이나마 그의 영혼을 넘긴 것에 대해 진정으로 후회했습니다. 그는 Viz에게 배신당한 감정으로 가득했지만, 그를 막기에는 너무 늦었습니다.

3.2.6 L7- Almighty (전능)

Legion (군단)

Leiv had waited a long, long time to finally make Viz’s runaway a success. She arrived in front of Meteo, still hoping that the boy had enough willpower to control Viz. However, she was too late. All ”Meteo” did was a small wave towards her direction, and Leiv was left lying injured on the ground, with no power to fight back. Once Viz successfully gained control of Meteo’s body, he initiated the battle between him and the gods; nevertheless, the gods were losing the fight. One by one, they were killed off.

Leiv는 Viz가 계속된 탈주에 지칠 때까지 오랜 시간 동안 기다렸습니다. 그녀는 Meteo와 대면하여, 여전히 그 소년이 Viz를 통제할 의지력이 충분하기를 바랐습니다. 하지만 때는 이미 너무 늦었습니다. Meteo가 한 것이라곤 단지 그녀가 서있던 곳을 향해 손가락만 까딱 움직인 것이 전부였지만, Leiv는 그것만으로도 땅에 쓰러진 채 움직일 수조차 없을 만큼 심각한 상처를 입었죠. Viz가 성공적으로 Meteo의 몸을 장악하자, 그는 신들과 전투를 시작했고, 신들은 패배를 거듭했습니다. 하나하나 그들은 죽어나갔죠.

3.2.7 L8- Meteor - Farewell (Meteor의 작별)

Lost (상실)

The only way to stop Viz is to sacrifice one’s life. Meteor let the rest of his soul enter Meteo’s body, protecting Meteo’s soul from within, eager to demolish Viz’s willpower. Although Meteor was well aware that self-sacrifice was a very painful and suffering thing to do, being the only god left that is still capable of exerting any power, he had to do it to stop the total destruction of heaven. Even though Meteo was unable to control his own body because of Viz, what remained of his willpower held on (because Meteor had been protecting him). Meteor’s soul entered his body and mind, and from there Meteor could access Meteo’s memories and see his past. Meteor had been guarding himself for a long time, only to give up his life in the end to stop Viz. (This means that Meteor’s soul entered Meteo’s body, so now Meteo’s body had three souls: Viz, Meteo and Meteor. Meteor wanted to kill Viz inside Meteo’s body.)

Viz의 폭주를 막을 수 있었던 유일한 방법은 누군가의 생명을 희생시키는 것이었습니다. Meteor는 나머지 그의 영혼마저도 Meteo의 몸 속에 들어가, Meteo의 영혼을 지킴과 동시에, Viz의 의지력을 파괴하고자 하였습니다. 물론 Meteor 자신도 스스로를 희생한다는 것이 얼마나 고통스러운 일인지는 잘 알았으나, 능력을 사용할 수 있는 유일한 천상계의 신으로서, 그는 천상계의 완전한 파멸을 막기 위해 결단을 내렸습니다. Meteo가 Viz 때문에 신체를 통제할 수 없었음에도 불구하고, Meteor가 보호하고 있던 Meteo의 의지력은 약간이나마 남아있었습니다. Meteor의 영혼은 Meteo의 몸 속으로 들어가 그곳에서 Meteo의 과거의 기억을 볼 수 있었습니다. Once Meteor’s soul was completely absorbed into Meteo’s body, he finally gained enough willpower to control Viz again. He contained Viz’s power in Meteo’s body, and Viz is left with no control over Meteo. (This means that Meteor’s and Viz’s souls were still in Meteo’s body, and Meteor let Meteo use Viz’s powers.) The chaos in heaven had finally settled, but despite that, all around Meteo, the bodies of defeated heaven warriors laid. Meteo felt a sharp rise of infinite regret, and not forgetting the loss of his own family and home, he could no longer accept himself living in both worlds anymore. Since Meteor and Viz now made up a small part of Meteo, Meteo could freely use his newly-gained force. He used all of his power to restore heaven and close up the connection between the mortal world and the higher world. The world has returned to its state of balance. Once everything has settled, Meteo took out the sword that Viz had summoned earlier, and through the center of his own heart, he impaled himself…

Meteor와 Viz가 Meteo의 몸 속에서 거의 남지 않았기 때문에 Meteo는 새로 얻은 그의 능력을 쓸 수 있게 되자, 그는 모든 힘을 쏟아 부어 천상계를 원상태로 되돌려놓고 지상계와의 연결을 끊었습니다. 모든 세계는 다시 균형을 되찾았죠. 모든 것이 제자리로 되돌아간 후, Meteo는 Viz가 전에 소환해내었던 칼을 꺼내 그의 심장 한가운데에 꽂는 길을 선택했습니다.

Meteor and Viz’s existence disappeared from the world along with Meteo. Following the closure of the link between Earth and heaven, the clash between science and religion slowly died down. Just like that, the legend of the tale that took place over many, many years… had finally come to an end.

Meteor와 Viz의 존재는 Meteo와 함께 이 세계에서 사라지게 되었습니다. 천상계와 지상계의 연결 또한 끊어졌기 때문에, 과학과 종교로 나뉘었던 두 파벌도 점차 융화되었죠. 그렇게 Meteor, Meteo, Viz의 전설은 오랜 세월 동안 전해져 내려왔고, 끝내 마지막 페이지를 넘기게 되었습니다.

• 만약에 이 스토리를 영문버전으로 읽는다면 심각한 게슈탈트 붕괴를 경험할 수 있다. Meteor는 유성이란 뜻의 영어단어인데, 이 단어가 유성이란 뜻과 푸른 머리를 가진 남자 아이의 형상을 한 신이라는 두 가지 의미로 쓰였다. 또한 금발의 남자아이는 Meteo라는 이름을 가졌는데, Meteor와 Meteo라는 단어를 번역기에 돌리면 죄다 유성으로 번역된다(...).또한 Meteor와 Meteo는 이름이 매우 헷갈릴 수 있으니 스토리를 볼 때에는 주의할 것.

• Intro 스토리에서 언급되었던 Precipitation, Entrance, Precipitation at the Entrance 는 모두 Ice가 작곡한 다른 곡이다. 실제로 Chapter L의 음악을 들으면 일부에 이 멜로디가 섞여 있는 것을 확인할 수 있다.
