1 개요

엘더스크롤 5: 스카이림의 메인 테마.

2 소개

엘더스크롤 3: 모로윈드 부터 사운드트랙 제작에 참여해온 제러미 솔이 작곡하였다. 3편인 모로윈드의 메인 테마인 Nerevar Rising과 4편 오블리비언의 테마 Reign of the Septims를 각색하여 합창으로 노래했다.

3 가사

가사는 모두 용언으로 되어 있지만 영어로 불러도 음절 수도 맞고 라임도 잘 맞는 것을 보면 먼저 영어로 가사를 쓴 후 거기에 용언을 짜맞춘 것으로 보인다. 애초에 용언을 만들 때 영어 문장의 단어들을 해당되는 용언 단어로 치환하면 되기 때문. 참고로 도바킨이 버거킹으로 들린다.

4 게임 내 등장

스카이림의 노래를 수집해놓은 Songs of Skyrim이라는 게임 내 책이 있는데, 이 책에는 위의 가사와 비슷한 고대의 노래가 실려있다. 단 이미 실전된지 오래라 정확한 발음이나 곡조는 알 수 없고 해석만 최근에 간신히 했다고 하는데, 그 가사는 다음과 같다.

<Dragonborn>의 가사와 달리 한 연이 모두 4행으로 된 노래다. 공식 가이드북에도 이 가사에서 중간중간에 1연이 반복된 가사가 수록되어 있으며, 소븐가르드의 배경음악인 <Sovengarde>가 이 가사를 그대로 사용하는 걸 보면 소븐가르드 쪽이 (설정 상으로는)노래의 원형에 가까운 형태로 보인다.

5 기타

공식 OST가 발매되어 정식 제목이 공개되기 전에는 유튜브 등에서 팬들이 Sons of Skyrim(스카이림의 후예들/자손들)이라는 비공식 제목을 붙여줬다. 참고로 작중 등장하는 음악 중 이 드래곤본을 어레인지 한 것들이 몇개 있다. 보스 및 드래곤 전투에 나오는 전투음악인 One They Fear는 이 음악을 리메이크 한 것으로 보인다.

슬픈 느낌이 두드러나는 'Nerevar rising'과 달리 북구풍의 엄청난 박력감과 웅장함을 보이며, 스카이림의 대히트에 힘입어 유투브에 많은 2차 창작물들이 나왔다.

일렉트로니카에서는 Headhunterz라는 아티스트의 하드스타일 리믹스가 상당히 유명하다. 곡의 완성도는 물론, 게임을 이용해 만든 영상까지 퀄리티가 상당해서 이러한 인기에 한몫 보탰다. Headhunterz - Dragonborn

livetune이 멜로디만 커버해서 스팽커스의 Sex On The Beach와 매쉬업 리믹스도 했다.

그런 인기에 이어, 세계에서 제일 큰 디지털아트, 컴퓨터게임 페스티벌인 DreamHack에서 Headhunterz의 라이브가 2012년 11월에 열린 DreamHack Winter에 있었다.
